On the Road Again
On the way to Mum and Dad’s.
We are in Bedfordshire at this point. Immediately behind us is the village of Harlington. The location of England’s first recorded steeplechase, so precursor of the Grand National. And where John Bunyan was detained in 1660, to spend the next 12 years in gaol, where he wrote Pilgrims Progress.
At the top of the hill, Hertfordshire (with the curious strap line on the sign, “county of opportunity”). So almost home.
A good evening. We sang some carols and watched the Strictly final. Second vote in a week.
