Breaking Point
Even at midday the light was not great today, overcast, dull and flat. Amongst the chaos of trunks and criss crossing branches, I picked out a log lying in a frozen woodland pond. Working around I managed to frame it without overlapping trunks in the background. I only noticed at home that it was broken and that gave me a title.
Despite the low contrast, I found it took quite a bit of editing to avoid "black holes" in the image from dark shadows. I had underexposed to avoid losing detail in the lichens and probably could have achieved better quality by toning down a brighter capture.
Today marks the end of my first year. Blip has certainly kept me going and now would be a good time to reflect on the year's progress and decide what if anything to change.
