Snail Central.......

......Winter Quarters......felt a bit guilty (though admittedly not a lot ;-) ) when I uncovered this colony while looking for a suitably sized plant pot for things more horticultural than gastropodal.....I'm afraid they're going to have to take their chances under the privet! My late father-in-law always maintained that 'our' snails were the direct descendants of bred-for-the-table escapees from the Newcastle based Danish consul's house, which used to be on the other side of the far wall of the-jungle-over-the-road in the early years of the 20th century......presumably the get-away didn't involve a high-octane chase, more of a slow seepage......yep, he was a great one for a tall story was my late father-in-law!!
