Depth Over Sill

The New and the Old.

Measurement markings on the side of the sea lock at the entrance to Preston Dock.
The Metric measurement on the left is topped with a sign that says 'Depth Over Sill Metres'. The measurements on the right are presumably in feet but they don't match up with each other so I am assuming that the lock gates have been replaced at some time and the depth altered.
