Cats Protection at Dervaig Christmas Market
A busy lively afternoon at the market, under the banner of CP a few of us baked and sold cakes and savouries to raise funds towards the cost of feeding cats waiting to be homed. Our aim is to raise awareness to the public as to what CP volunteers are doing in the community to help the health and welfare of feral cats; trapping, health checks, neutering and either finding the right home or releasing longer term feral cats to the area they were found.
Finding the right home can take time and this is where fostering comes in, a time consuming job at times and not for everyone, I admire the few volunteers who do this.
Over the years volunteers on Mull have carried out this work in a quiet steadfast manner however the branch is under threat of closure, it’s difficult to understand why although encouraging to know we are well supported on the island.
