A Perfect Storm or a Mexican Standoff?

Despite my title, the idiom "you can't see the wood for the trees" probably matches this photo best, and also sums up this particular tricky job of mine. This is the view today of the landscaped gardens of a large unoccupied house in Cheshire that I am currently designing a replacement for. I took the blip whilst I was waiting for the asbestos surveyor to turn up. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful (although very cold) day.

What started as a simple demolition of this semi-derelict old house and complete new build proposal, has long ago turned into a far more complex affair because of a series of compulsory enforcements that have added to the brief acumulatively : First is the requirement to build-in 'electromagnetic radio waves' screening from domestic appliances, due to the site's proximity to Jodrell Bank Radio Telescope; then the discovery of a small 'maternity roost' of protected Long-Eared Brown Bats has meant we cannot now demolish the old house completely, plus we also have to build the little darlings a new extension as well (all 16); and latest, the uncovering of asbestos insulation boards in an old boiler room means that the affected parts of the house first need to be encapsulated in plastic sheeting, to create a 'negative vacuum' before the asbestos can be slowly removed (by contractors dressed in protective suits like the scientists who come to investigate E.T).

This job should keep me out of mischief.
