Edinburgh
Up at 5 o'clock to catch an early flight to Edinburgh for a client meeting. This was the project initiation and it was good to encounter a well informed client who understands research. Good omens for the contract. Afterwards, we boarded the tram at York Place for the journey back out to the airport. After 5 minutes sitting stationary, there was a tannoy announcement explaining that a bus had broken down in Princes Street blocking the tram track. We were advised to make our own way to Haymarket where the airport tram was now terminating. We dutifully disembarked and strode up dodged through the Princes Street crowds. We never did pass any part of the track that was blocked by a bus, broken down or otherwise. As we neared Haymarket we noticed that the trams were running down towards the centre of town as normal; the bus, if there ever had been a bus, had obviously cleared the track. Eventually a tram arrived at Haymarket bound for the airport. It was, of course, now catching up on the backlog of late and unamused passengers and was fully crammed. We had to stand most of the way out to the airport.
