Fluffed Out
Northern Mockingbirds normally have a longer and slimmer appearance. This fellow has fluffed out his feathers to help keep himself warm. He also wasn't moving around much but he was near bushes with abundant pyrocantha berries.
Temperature last night fell to the low 20s and this morning we experienced a chill wind. I have gotten out my ski clothes in preparation for an all day bird photo shoot on Saturday. I also have cut a small piece of insulation to stand on. It is surprising how that can redude the effect of the cold ground on a person's feet. Lacking insulating boots that will have to do.
Notice that our neighbor, Larry, has not yet taken down the Christmas lights adorning his wall.
