Thirlmere reflections
I nipped out for an hour this morning - planning to go to St Johns in the Vale, but the whole valley was cloudy by the time I got there, so I continued until I reached Thirlmere. Although not much brighter, the lake was occasionally calm, enabling me to get some good reflections. I included some foreground grasses to give a little depth to the shot. A 0.6 hard edged ND filter controlled the sky, which appeared much brighter than the reflections in the unfiltered version.
Thirlmere often gets neglected by photographers who refer to it as " a reservoir" - I find it particularly attractive when the water is calm, and being fairly high, even managed some snow on the far shore, making it reminiscent of a Norwegian Fjord
