Christmas Market and Library

So this is the view from one of my students flats overlooking Ladeuzeplein where the Christmas market is. The building at the back is the University Library, which was famously destroyed by the Germans in the First World War. The library was not located at this position then, it was on Grote Markt (according to Wikipedia) with this building dating from 1921. The library was again almost destroyed by the Germans in 1940 as well.

This square is rather desolate for most of the year, as it is kept clear for the few weeks of the Christmas Market and the Autumn Fair. With a few more pubs, cafes and restaurants around the edges, as opposed to banks etc, it would be rather nice.
