The Orion Nebula
A clear sky, filled with light pollution. Cold as you like. Ice on the ground.
I took some shots into the sky facing south into the Orion constellation. After uploading, I was amazed (in my own little way) to discover the Orion Nebula visible* as a wee blurry smudge on the image. I wish I had some better equipment!
A quick Google tells me that its the closest region of massive star formation to Earth. Only 1,344 light years away. That's all.
*Its the wee blob in Orion's sword just below and left of centre of my image.
