The search for ammo pays off

Well, nearly pays off. Dropped in at a gun store I've never been to and they were selling bags of 50 of the elusive 22LR ammo that I've been looking out for.

9mm is bad enough right now, and yesterday I managed to score 4 boxes of 50 when I remembered that I had family who work for Walmart. They intercepted the sporting goods desk and secured some ammo before it was all sold. Could have bought more but I don't really have much cash at the moment. I just need some for 1 trip to the range this weekend, and ammo for when some friends come out to the US so we can go to the range then.

But 22LR is the proverbial rocking horse sh*t. It sells out really fast and everyone walking into Walmart who sees it (and everywhere else) just buy everything they see. Gun dealers are now camping out at Walmart desks - they literally see the truck unload, they wait by the desk for the new stock to be entered onto the system and they buy it there and then.

Walmart were limiting people to 6 ammo purchases, it's now down to 3. And rumour has it that there are no new orders for ammo.

Spoke to the nice manager at our local one this morning, and she suggested popping in at 8am tomorrow morning - their delivery is at 7am. Which I'll do.

But for now, we have 50 rounds of 22LR which will go up in smoke(less) this weekend at the range.

As the lady at Walmart today said "I've never seen anything like this run on ammo. Well, maybe once before, about 4 years ago". She winked.
