The Hoover of the Sea

The largest of the two vessels in this pic is a German registered trawler, the Jan Maria, which measures more than 400 feet in length. It approached Stornoway for a sick crewman to be taken to hospital. Environmentalists are fiercely opposed to vessels of this type, as they hoover up fish from the sea, severely depleting fish stocks.
