Quicksand and Passing

The title for this entry comes from the two books I have been reading today ready for my first American Literature seminar tomorrow. They are both by an author called Nella Larsen and deal with issues of race in America when segregation was still an issue then and make quite interesting reading.

I did manage to go out and get some better pictures of the snow though and this is perhaps my favourite which was taken on our front lawn. I really like the grass poking up through the snow and after reading so much today (and being exposed to so much imagery), it almost seems to be a metaphor for spring - if a very cliched one at that.
