On The Beach

Edinburgh's Seaside, Portobello, Porty, doon the beach call it what you will.

My mum's got countless dog eared black and whites and new fangled colour from the Instamatic of the family on this beach along with thousands of others in the days before we all cottoned onto the Costas.

Its still a relatively popular place on a warm summer's day, but today was bitter cold with a touch of melancholy that only an off-season resort possesses.

The site of the mini-fairground is now strewn with rubble and the paddling pool's long gone....sad.

Shut your eyes though, breathe deep and you might just get a whiff of candy floss.
