Reaching the top of the hill, he saw the stag through the early morning mist. He had known the stag for several years. The old owner of the estate had not tolerated hunting on her land. It had been years since he had carried a gun. But he carried one this morning. The new laird had laid down the law – support the hunt or you were out. That was the new man’s style. His way or the highway. He was dismantling everything that they had built together over the years. So there was going to be a hunt today. The ghillie shouldered his gun and went looking for the new laird.
