Gateway to the Green

This arch is a rather nice gateway into Glasgow Green - but it wasn't always here.
The structure was once part of the facade of the city's Assembly Rooms in Ingram Street and was saved by one of the council bailies, James McLennan.
It has been moved several times and is known nowadays as the McLennan Arch.
The fountain that can be seen in the distance was built in honour of a city Lord Provost - and member of the Temperance Movement - Sir William Collins.
