Community lunch

Dervaig primary school, parents, grandparents and villagers attend a Carol Service in the village church at 11.00, I didn’t get to be there, from memory the children organise and take part in the service.

Afterwards everyone transferred to the village hall to take part in the community lunch hosted by the primary school. This is a lovely event with any number of people from the area helping in a variety of ways. All ages attend, 4 to 94 with a number of quiz type games to entertain the guests between courses.

Our lovely local shop and the Co op in Tobermory contributed towards the food, a number of us made an interesting variety of soups including spicy cauliflower & coconut, leek and potato, cream of tomato, carrot and lentil and chicken noodle. Also piles of home made rolls with the parents arriving armed with cake and puddings. Tea, coffee and juice followed.

A jolly atmosphere to end the school term and year. We live in a wonderful wonderful community, team work in the kitchen was brilliant, I feel like the bossy boots although nobody has hit me yet so roll on the next event. But not for a while please, what an amazing few weeks. I ’m looking forward to the next week of peacefulness although I wonder..... the cats are hurtling round the sitting room using Christmas tree baubles as training tools for the cat football league (to take place on 31st December when mum and dad are out).

Apologies for yet another red orange photo taken in the village hall, I must try to remember to ask Treshnish how to overcome the poor lighting in the hall.
