TGIF

A record day... 23 tickets fulfilled at the foodbank... the order l had given the warehouse  in order to get the cupboards filled for today found us with almost no room on any shelf... by the time we left the cupboards were virtually empty.. only the last couple of bags did we run out of milk and we have one cereal box left... so it was lucky we reached the end of our two hours!!!  When l say tickets each ticket can be for differing numbers of people ... we have a set list of options depending on the number of people from a single, couple, family up to three children and a large family bag which can be added to depending on the number of children.  (8 has been the highest number so far!!).  Today it was a huge number of family bags.. thanks to the generous donations from the local community we were able to give them all extra bags towards Christmas including Christmas puds, large tins of biscuits, mincepies, more chocolate than you can shake a stick at as well as some savoury biscuits and snacks.  It has been a marathon and l am sure the January backlash will be as hefty as the buildup.
Too many children are caught up in poverty.. we should find some way of sorting this out... it is heartbreaking!
Putting all that to one side... I must get some decorations up this evening. As we are staying home for Christmas we are having a little party on Monday evening so it is a good incentive to get the twinkles out of the boxes in the attic and let them create some magic downstairs!!
Safe journeys to all those of you who are travelling away for Christmas.. stay safe and have a happy time
