Spur-Winged Plover

A trip to Nelson today, picking up my new specs and lots of shopping.

Took a few photos at the beach but nothing that I felt was blippable so on the way home I stopped and snapped off some shots of some spur-winged plovers in the deer paddock down the road. These plovers self-introduced from Australia in the late 1800's and have been breeding since about 1940. They are seriously noisy and one of the few 'day' birds that you can still hear calling after dark.

Nothing really to recommend this shot but not much other choice.
