Daylight!

You remember what it's like when the kids are small, and you get ready to go out, and when you open the front door, it's starting to get dark?

Well I do, and a conversation with my lovely next door neighbour brought back memories...

...When she told me she was thinking about taking a bucket and spade to the grit bin which is 10 minutes walk from us, so that she might be able to get the car out and go to musical minnies... and she was wondering if her two year old would walk, or whether he should go in the buggy. And how much grit would she need, and how much would she be able to carry, And whether the temperature was actually safe for her tiny new baby, and whether musical minnies was really important or not...

...So I suggested a joint trip to the grit bin and the nearby park. And we decided to go after Ben had had his nap... When we got there the sun was setting. Ben discovered snow was cold. We shovelled snow into the bucket, we tipped it out again. We shovelled grit into the bucket. We discovered grit really is very heavy.

We lugged the bucket home.

The world keeps turning.
