'Little Distressed Tree'

Here it is once again.

This is the little tree that I originally posted yesterday, but got bumped by the sunset, so here it is again.

Came home to bad news tonight. Mums dog Jesse had eaten one of the baby chicks. The biggest one must have learnt how to fly out of the brooder that they're all still living in and didn't stand a chance in the house alone with the dog. Mrs R had gone to take her mum to the doctors and discovered feathers and blood on the carpet and a missing chick. Mmmmm not happy after all of the effort we've put into getting them this far, but probably any dog in that situation would have done the same thing??

She also discovered that another one of our laying hens had died in the chicken coup. She was probably egg bound.

In any case, we're all feeling a bit sad by all this today.

We're bracing ourselves for another scorching hot day tomorrow and a total fire ban throughout Victoria has been called. Extra resources will be on stand by at all fire stations tomorrow. Let's hope there are no major disasters here.
