Takeoff

We went to Centennial Park today, right across the road from where the French live, and spent lots of time bird watching near the ponds. There were lots of black swans, ducks, pelicans and other unknown birds and then a few of these cockatoos, which I think is a Long-billed Corella. I hadn't seen any cockatoos up close in the wild, only in flight and in the trees, so this was pretty exciting for me! We used to have one as a pet but he was pretty tame so it's not quite the same. Of course, after taking dozens of photos with my DSLR, I got out my iPhone to take something for instagram and ended up with my favourite photo of the day. Isn't that always the way? Either I got a little too close or he saw some ducks getting bread and he wanted in on it and he flew away just when I snapped the photo. Love it :)
