Christmas Cake

I spent some of the morning baking another Christmas cake; I used a different, more conventional recipe this time; it is still gluten free and vegan. This one smells and although a little sunken in the middle, looks completely different to the previous one. I was going to make some mince pies after lunch when the cake came out of the oven, but decided to use the afternoon to catch up a little more on my temperature blanket.
 
The temperature at GMT noon today was eight degrees Celsius. In the United Kingdom, today is the shortest day, not yesterday as many people thought; next year is a leap so the shortest day is the 22 December.
