Rose on Ice

I didn't prune my ground cover roses in the autumn. Although I haven't seen a bloom open for a while now, the plants are full of their tiny buds. The icy frost this morning made the insignificant heads light up in the early morning sunshine. I couldn't resist a photograph as I doubt they will last much longer. From +12 to -6 in so few days will have an alarming effect on the flowers that are daring to believe it's Spring.

I walked the dogs along the muddiest tracks this afternoon and arrived home with eight dry paws. The ground and the deep puddles were still solid. It's freezing hard already and it's not 5pm yet! The days are significantly longer now and it's wonderful to have the extra light for longer walks.

If you are interested I have now back blipped last Saturdays outing.
