The Green Gold

Swedes working in the forest industry sometimes refer to the forest as Sweden's green gold. The forest is one of Sweden's few natural resources and in some ways it is really well looked after. Apparently there are more trees in Sweden than ever before. But while the forest is full of trees there is very little natural forest left and it is a battle to combine forestry with a good level of nature conservancy. Here is a lorryload of recently felled trees, probably heading for the coast and a paper or pulp mill.
Behind the lorry is the Ångerman River, and just out of sight, upriver to the right is a large hydro-electric power  station, water-power being another of Sweden's natural resources.
The snow and frost on the trees gives away the fact I'm cheating slightly here, because it's been above freezing all day today and raining. This picture was actually taken yesterday in Namforsen, after the funeral, but it's so much better than any of the damp foggy pictures of rain I could have taken today, so I'll cheat today and be honest about it!
