Old Beeches

On a bright, chilly but sunny morning a few minutes after sunrise our avenue of grand old beeches look particularly fine. I'm guessing that they are probably a couple of hundred years old and mark the side of an old lane - long since subsumed into the field. My cottage garden would have led onto the lane - now that is the bottom of my lower garden and I leave home in the other direction.
