Liquidambar

In the children's book The Magician's Nephew, Digory Kirke plants a magical apple tree in the back garden (this tree ultimately provides the wood for the famous Wardrobe in TLTWATW). Because it originally came from Narnia it occasionally reacted to weather as if it still was there. Well, I don't know on what planet this liquidambar was born, but it keeps a different calendar to everything else in the garden. We are past mid-winter solstice, but this tree is only just starting to turn red. And I know from previous years that it won't put on new leaves until late May. Very strange.
