Standby

The ventilator is now redundant and set to standby (AGAIN)
Rafi has had a rough couple of days, but is now on the up.
He had his shunt operation late on Monday afternoon. Unfortunately it was delayed due to theatre being busy and Rafi began to get quite ill as his drain wasn't working.
He went to HDU following his operation as he was slow to recover and then had some seizures on Tuesday morning. After he was given some medication he needed assistance to breathe so had to be put on a ventilator in Intensive Care. He didn't wake at all yesterday. A CAT scan revealed that the shunt was working well and no obvious cause for the seizures.
Today he was taken off the ventilator and has had no trouble breathing for himself, he has been awake for very short periods today, so there is a definite improvement.
The neurologist feels that the seizures may not be an ongoing problem, but just an after effect of having brain surgery.
Hopefully Rafi will be back on his usual ward tomorrow and continue to improve.
