Looking down the hill

The house in my picture is located in the churchyard of St Mary's Church, Westerham. It is late 17thC and is Grade 2 listed. Appropriately it is named Church Cottage.

I cannot find much information about this house, apart from its building materials and estate agents details. I am curious to know who lived there in the past.

Westerham is a lovely town and was home to Sir Winston Churchill for more than 40 years. Chartwell is owned by the National Trust and the house and its grounds are well worth a visit.

I was disappointed that most of the shops and a few tea rooms were closed today. We had a drink in the only remaining pub - The Grasshopper on the Green - which was very friendly and welcomed muddy boots and even muddier dogs.

The other pub - The George and Dragon- once the local of Nigel Farage until he was barred - was now boarded up and closed.

We had a lovely pasta meal in a little Italian restaurant and although I still have quite a bit of abdominal discomfort , it was good to get out again and have a walk around Westerham.
