Laying in Waiting!

This is where Zoe and Sherlock often park themselves, right on the edge of the kitchen, while i'm cooking dinner.....ready to be offered whatever might be up for the taking!

Today i found a new hero!

Isaac Button! If you have 35 minutes and want to see an amazing man, in his 60's, during the 60's - in Britain, making the most amazing pots, you won't be disappointed! and the sound track is the Beatles!

Isaac Button was a country potter, for many years, working for Soil Hill Pottery, near Halifax, England. He was so astonishing, and often threw (making pots on the wheel) a ton of clay in one day! To give you a sense of the scale here....a ton of clay translates into 45 boxes of clay (44 lbs per box). I probably go thro 80-90 boxes in a year! Mind you, there was a time when i used more! I'm about the age now that he is in the movie, and i'm slowing down!! I thought i was a fast thrower...but watching this guy, with his pipe permanently between his teeth, and his cap and shirt and tie....he is in a totally different realm...miles apart. It is a wonderful film, and as i say, he is now my # 1 Hero! Not only did he make his own clay, after he dug it out of the ground, he fired the pots in a 6 chamber, coal fired kiln! No small feat i can tell you. It took 48 hours to fire! Just astonishing!

Dinner is almost ready...cheers folks!
