Attleborough, Norfolk
One of the few positive highlights of the election going on in the UK has been the discovery of a prospective MP candidate for my first UK voting constituency, nowadays known as Mid Norfolk to the south & west of Norwich.
A young guy named Steffan Aquarone (never discovered the origins of the interesting name) campaigning on the LibDem ticket but frankly with such a wonderfully balanced set of views, he seems uncomfortable having any party allegiance. Certainly in this election, LibDems seems right but he has a huge task trying to unseat a Tory Minister.
I have been spending as much time as possible pleading via Twitter with the voters of Mid & all Norfolk to do the right thing & vote for him and his colleagues. It was on Twitter that I saw he was campaigning today in Attleborough the nearest town to the little village where I lived in the time around 1970-5.
So there was a Twitter exchange with a few people & today's photo was one of them. The mug & jam jar were bought in almost the only shop back then, a mix of hardware & garden store and gift shop. They were presents I bought my Mum for Christmas and/or Birthdays. The print is of nearby Quiddenham Hall. There were nuns there who helped my Mum spiritually through her final months while fighting cancer.
PS Posting this after the election - Steffan didn't make it but was one of the top constituency plus votes for LibDems in the country. A great achievement considering what happened elsewhere.
I am sure Steffan will be a future national politician and wish him well.
