Fernery

Mrs.K. has been working to set up a Fernery in Ashmeadow Woodland near the centre of the village.

The idea is to grow and label as many as possible of the Ferns which grow in the wild in the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This is Hard Shield Fern (Polystichum aculeatum).

Altogether there are 27 different Ferns growing in the AONB. 14 of them are now growing in the Fernery. So there is a little way still to go.
