Afternoon light
I had a small opportunity today to grab a little bit of time for myself, so I popped up to a local wood for a short walk and a few photos.
The light was quite nice, subtle and pastel like as the evening was beginning to draw in. The ground was pretty boggy underfoot and it seemed that it kept wanting to pinch the wellies off my feet, but the squelch squelch squelch of walking on land that is not tarmac or road is strangely reassuring.
It’s amazing really just how much woodland changes over the course of a year. There is the growth and shedding of the canopy but also things change considerably in the understory too. The woods seem thinner now than when I last visited them only a few weeks ago. I might just be the loss of the leafy roof from above, but it also seems that there has been some clearance at work on the ground. Either way, it makes each visit to the woodland different and thought provoking each time.
