WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Pork Pies and Opera! :-[

We've been a bit lazy today.
Last night we didn't get to bed till midnight after the house party we were invited to play at and I don't do late nights very well.

The party was quite nice and people seemed to enjoy the music. The only thing I found difficult was that most of the guests were farm related and at one point I was surrounded by people with their plates piled high with pork pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs and bacon quiche!
The host - Anne - apolgised because she didn't know we were vegan so hadn't catered for us. As we were last minute guests we didn't expect anything anyway and had bought chips before we went to the party so we weren't hungry.
We don't go on about being vegan but we really were in a minority and it made me realise how set in their ways many people are. There are so many yummy things to eat that are plant based rather than animal.

A lovely Chinese lady, named Suzy, joined us in the conservatory where we were singing. Frank played his mandolin and she asked him what the instrument was called. He told her and also said that it was tuned the same as a violin. She asked to have a go on it, saying that she'd had violin lessons in China before she was 8 years old.
We were all gob smacked when she started playing well known tunes on it! We were even more gob smacked when she started to sing unaccompanied in a fabulous operatic voice! She said she was just getting back into music now that her youngest boy had gone to uni. She was most emphatically advised to join Skipton Musical Society!

Back to today - I have been reading, writing a poem and made a yummy lemon and blueberry 'scheesecake'.

Frank has been making soup, sketching and took Bella for a pint at The Boat House.

My favourite tea tonight! Scheese, crackers, pickled onions, mixed salad, hummus, guacamole and lentil crisps.
Now we're settling down to watch telly ;-)
