Nacreous Clouds
What I have captured is a rare occurrence of Nacreous Clouds - sometimes called mother-of-pearl clouds - which are Polar stratospheric clouds around 3 times higher than normal high cirrus. They show strong iridescence.
This view was from my bedroom window at 3pm. (Kirkcaldy, Fife)
They were also visible from Carlisle as seen on Marpaul's blip. They were probably visible from most of Scotland - other clouds permitting.
