Mono Monday - Low Key Portrait

As I am not very good at portraiture and the low key approach was a novel experience for me, I decided to cheat by having an inanimate object (a brass ornament of Buddha) as my subject so it was quite easy to pose the portrait. However, the metallic finish did add some challenges as the highlights of a metallic surface are very bright and needed to be controlled carefully. I quite enjoyed trying out a new technique especially as normally I am looking clarity in my images rather than mood. An exercise in learning that less can be more !
