The morning after

and the snow that fell all afternoon yesterday is melting in the sun. There were treacherous patches of black ice on the streets and the mairie announced that elderly people who could not get out of their houses could ask for someone to do their shopping for them. Most people seemed happy to go out and marvel at a sight that is so rarely seen here.
