What's the chicken doing here?

Every year the same story but sadly Mummy Deer "Ripped Ear" has clearly died (been shot) after several years of leading her fawns onto our horse field in late summer.

She was so well known that the two official hunters who are responsible for the two hunting franchises that border our property would even ask us if we had seen her.

So I guess it is now one of her young ones that has become a Mum. They graze along with the horses and chickens, Luna knows they are off-limits. We can continue doing our normal work just 50 metres away but should w stop and it goes silent for a few seconds, the deer look up for danger and if necessary jump over the ditch and into the forest.
