Beautiful Hogmanay

A beautiful sunny day

Another walk, this time in Dawson Park. This is our nearest Park and it was sparkling in the sunlight and the clear blue sky.

We will have a quiet evening as we ‘wait for the bells’. Apparently, permission has been given for Big Ben to bring in the New Year. We will then travel to Edinburgh for a few day’s to spend time with our daughter and her family.

No one knows what awaits us in 2020. As for me, I am glad that my peace does not stem from ‘happy’ events, but rather from knowing the steadfast love of God in all circumstances.

My heart goes out for the people of the Middle East and Australia, whose suffering will go on into the New Year. I also cannot imagine what the Pastor’s wife is suffering, who lost her husband and two children in a dreadful drowning accident on Christmas Eve.

While we might hope for a ‘Happy New Year’ we need to know the ‘peace that passes understanding ‘ whatever happens.
