Last sunset of the Decade (Day 1699)
A much better day weather wise today, and while my beautiful wife went off to do hoss stuff, I loaded up the rubble from the old fireplace and headed to the dump. Where I sat in a queue for ages as the mad consumers got rid of the unbelievable amount of packaging left over from Christmas. I think I was likely the only person getting rid of rubble today. I zoomed home and loaded up with more rubble and returned to the dump to find it worse than on my first visit.
Having cleared everything out of the way I was able to have a better look at the wall where the fireplace was. It is lath and plaster over a stone wall, and the plaster is coming away from the laths in a few places. There is also evidence of some of the laths having been on fire at some stage, along with a bit of the end of one of the floorboards. The sensible option is to strip all of the laths off and re-sheet the whole wall. I will wait until the dump is open again before I start.
HV arrived home for lunch after which we took the woofers to Yesnaby for a wander in the sunshine.
Back home via the horses and a fabulous sunset over Hoy, a fine way to finish the decade.
