V.I.Ps

I was delighted when K messaged a couple of months ago to say they would be home over Christmas and hoped to catch up. K and R, her kiwi husband, moved to New Zealand about 7 years ago with their two children and this is the first time they have been back.

Since that initial message a few months a go, I hadn’t heard from them and knew that their time here would be incredibly jam packed visiting family and friends but was thrilled when she messaged on Saturday to ask if we were free on NYE for them to pop over before they headed into London to watch the fireworks.

K was Lucy’s year 4 teacher, Ks first year of teaching, and we became friends when I started working at the school (she also taught Rebecca). An amazing teacher and all round lovely person and it was such a delight to pick up things as if we had just seen them the other day, reminiscing on a couple of New Years we spent together on a farm in Gloucestershire much to the embarrassment of her two teenage children (K, 16 was quite chatty but W, 14 was in a bit of Kevin & Perry mode.... bless him what with jet lag and then being dragged round to peoples houses).

Our time together was over all too quick as they headed up to London but just so good to see them. I feel we will need to return their visit and pop down under at some time in the future.

The rest of our evening was a noisy, happy, drinking, playing games and generally having fun.

2019 for us had quite some lows but equally some highs too and although we go into 2020 with a few issues still needing sorting, I’m always a glass half full type of person and am optimistic that it will be a good year and when I see here on blip people who are/ have been poorly or caring for loved ones, I feel incredibly lucky that we have each other and 4 wonderful, talented children who are loved very much.

So, it goes without saying that I wish all you lovely blippers a very, very happy and healthy 2020. Xx

Keeeeeeepp bliiipping! :-D))
