Hobbs's Run

Elysian Rock

Things are looking decidedly UP for the Blue Mountains ... it seems. A lot  of Jamison Valley locations, that had been officially closed to visitors because of fire activity, are now open again. Late in the afternoon, I visited one of my favourite places near Leura, called the "Elysian Rock".

The smoke is still clearing but we are beginning to catch a glimpse of Blue Mountains vistas once more. It'll be one of my dedicated projects to show you as much as I can of such places. I am convinced there'll be a lot of damage to see but we might well be surprised by what has survived.

Digital Earth Hotspots along the NSW south coast and north eastern Victoria shows an ugly picture. Truly appalling. They have obviously had it much worse than us. The same site seems to indicate that fires around here are really dying, now. If we can get through Saturday's predicted horrific conditions we, in the Blue Mountains, might be safe for a while, especially as how respectable rain may actually be coming. Fingers crossed.
