Abstract...
...and thanks to Ingeborg for hosting AbstractThursdays. This is a container of q-tips (original in extras) that I added a "transparent rainbow" color to from the gradient map for some interest. :)
I drove Tom to the Cancer Center for his lab work and Dr. visit today. Apparently there are three different mutations that can form in people with leukemia, and he has two of the three. These mutations contribute to the formation of way too many blasts (immature white blood cells) which eventually crowd out the normal red blood cells. Fortunately there are two different pills that have been developed to help block what the mutations are doing, & the plan is to start him on one of them in about a week or two, pending approval for the medication by the insurance company. The Dr. said it works well in 40-50% of the people that take it, so of course we're hoping he'll be in that percentage. Right now he's just happy it's a pill and he can have some relief from all the IV sticks! :)
