Eye to Eye

Now for something completely different ?

It probably looked like a snow covered mountain in the thumbnail but it is simply part of a swan's back. I went down to La Gouille to check out the water birds today as it is still many degrees below freezing. Some idiot, no doubt well meaning, had broken a baguette in 2 pieces and left them on the gound with no possibility of the swans breaking them open as they were blocks of ice. I gave the swans some food and then smashed the baguette into pieces for the clamouring ducks. The swans were content to stand in the snow and have their photos taken but, if you look closely, you can see the ice crystals in their feathers, poor birds. They somehow survive through each winter!

Thanks to everyone that sent yesterday's cross country skiing blip to the spotlight. (I never seem to get there in time when I receive the notification!)
