The Orangerie

At Dalkeith Country Park. Built in the 1840s, this used to be surrounded by the formal gardens of Dalkeith Palace. The windows were glazed and it was essentially a massive heated greenhouse for growing exotic fruit. It fell into disrepair when the Duke of Buccleuch and his family left Dalkeith Palace in 1914. Now it is undergoing restoration.
