I went to the National Trust's Sutton Hoo with my friend Janice today. I especially wanted to see the Anglo Saxon themed Christmas tree decorations that she had made as part of the Busy Bee's Sewing Group attached to Sutton Hoo. The Busy Bee's design and make all things to do with sewing for Sutton Hoo, including costumes, soft furnishings and decorations. The Christmas tree decorations are stunning, pity they'll now be put away until next Christmas.
For those who don't know it, Sutton Hoo is an early 7th century burial site of the Anglo Saxon ruler Raedwald. It was discovered in 1939 and artefacts found are now in the British Museum with copies on view in the exhibition hall. It's well worth a visit if you are in the area.
We then enjoyed a cheese scone and Earl Grey tea in the restaurant followed by a 2 mile walk around the estate.
