New Beginnings
A lovely surprise greeted me on the kitchen window ledge this morning - a fresh young shoot on the stumps of the potted grape vine cuttings. The cuttings were taken from Mr A’s father’s garden just before his house was sold.
2019 was an eventful year for us:
In January, my Mum moved into a new and larger retirement apartment ...where there is a better social life and more on-site facilities plus back-up if needed.
In February, Mr A’s father sadly passed away just two days before his 90th birthday.
In July, my Mum had to cancel our cruise due to ill health.
In August, Mum suffered a severe fire at her apartment, after a mirror on her dressing table set light to nearby curtains. The entire flat was gutted although thankfully no-one was injured and the fire was miraculously contained within the one apartment.
In September, I managed to slip on some crushed grapes in M&S (the incident now being nicknamed Grape-Gate, since you don’t expect to find crushed comestibles by the pay point near the ladies footwear section) and fractured a bone in my foot.
In November, My Boy moved into his first little house.
On 30th November, Mr A and I celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary.
So, I’m kind of hoping that 2020 will be a year for new beginnings and a fresh start all round.
The new shoots summed it up perfectly...
