The Duke of Wellington's Hat..

I was passing Glasgow's Gallery of Modern Art today, and, in need of a smile, decided to take this shot of that lesser known clown, the Duke of Wellington.

I think responding to the fact that Glaswegians have an irreverent sense of humour, and the fact that, rather curiously, this very traditional statue guards an entrance to the Gallery of Modern Art, the Duke always has a traffic cone for a hat. Today's hat is rather jauntily worn don't you think?

Sometimes, if significant events are being celebrated, a "special" traffic cone hat will be worn, such as the one painted gold in the aftermath of the London Olympics.
