The Theatre Royal, Newcastle.
We were in Newcastle late night shopping, and having a meal tonight. On our way back to the car we passed the Theatre Royal, which was all lit up, and where the pantomime was still being performed.
The Theatre Royal is a grade 1 listed building, built in 1899. A fire destroyed the interior and it was redesigned in 1901. It is a theatre loved by many of those who perform there, and it has a resident ghost, the Grey Lady. The story is that she was in the upper circle, reaching out to an actor whom she was in love with, when she fell to her death. She has haunted the theatre ever since.
